Online Math 15
Prealgebra
Class
Welcome to online math 15 Prealgebra. You have chosen to take a math class online which may very well be one of the hardest ways to take a math class. I know that many of you are taking this class due to your work or school schedule and an online class is flexible enough to allow you to take one more class. Well welcome.
We will get started at the orientation meeting on Monday August 25th from 5-6pm in E-1. Be sure you attend since that will be when I decide to drop absent students and add those who want to get into the class.
I wanted to give you a couple of websites that you can visit to assess your study skills habits, your learning styles and your time management skills. All of these areas will be very important to your success in this online math class. If you cannot manage your time on your own and study well on your own than an online math class is probably not for you. Use the links below to help you better understand yourself as a student and to determine if an online math class is right for you.

Our course is going to use the MyMathLab website and will require you to purchase a student access code. This code is included in the cost of your textbook from the bookstore or you can purchase the code without the textbook from the publisher on the website. The student access code is about $57 online and the software has a full copy of the textbook within it so you do not have to purchase the textbook package from the bookstore. Because this is a new edition of the book you will not be able to find used copies. To purchase an access code online go to http://www.coursecompass.com/ and use the course id clark65395.
If you have any questions about getting started you can email me or ask at the orientation meeting on Monday August 25th.

Additional Information to be added as available.
This class is online and does not include any required class time on campus except for attending an orientation meeting and taking three exams and a final. The exams and final will be taken in the math center in E-2. To use the math center you will need to register in a zero unit no cost NBASIC 202 (Class #76121 ).
This class will be using Prealgebra Fifth Edition by Elayn Martin-Gay and the MyMathLab online website. You can purchase the book and access code for the software from the campus bookstore or online directly from Prentice Hall. Prentice Hall also sells an electronic version only that does not include the textbook but does include access to the book and course on the computer within MyMathLab. You must purchase an access code to get to the course materials online.
The basic class schedule is posted on this website and in the class calendar in MyMathLab. Homework quizzes for sections assigned during a week will be due by 11:59pm the following Monday.
